In Spain, the headquarters of the Blockchain Centre of Catalonia will be in Girona, more precisely on the premises of the University of Girona’s (UdG) Science and Technology Park. This was reported by BolsaManía, taking into account the information provided by the Ministry of Digital Policies of the Generalitat.

According to this publication, the city was selected from a list of five finalists. The choice was made „on the basis of the opportunities offered by the University of Girona to develop this disruptive technology“.

In this context, the Catalan Minister for Digital Policies and Public Administration, Jordi Puigneró, pointed out that, just as Blockchain technology is based on decentralisation, they want to „open more Blockchain sub-offices in other Catalan cities to give them opportunities as well“.

„The initiative of the Blockchain Centre in Catalonia was signed on 23 September 2020 between the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce and the Department of Digital Policies to develop initiatives with this technology,“ they detailed in the BolsaManía article.
