The one-month old impasse in the Madurai District Chess Association
activities came to an end today the 12th April, 2001, when the Tamil Nadu Chess Association suspended the Madurai District Chess Association and appointed an adhoc committee to run the affairs of
MDCA.
According to the TNCA sources, four reasons were cited
for the suspension - "failure to conduct the election of the office bearers after the term ended on 30 06 2000, refusal to furnish copies of the minutes of the
General Body meetings of the MDCA from 1996 to the TNCA, alleged misuse of
Railway Concession forms signed by the General Secretary, TNCA and refusal to return the unused Railway Concession forms when demanded and refusal to clarify details of
interest payable on the fixed deposits as revealed by the audited accounts of the
MDCA".
The adhoc committee will have, Arul Arasu Israel as President, D Ravichandran as Secretary, K Vetrivel Kannan, B samuel and B T
Sethuraman as members. When contacted in Chennai TNCA General
Secretary Mr Manuel Aaron confirmed the suspension.
The deposed Secretary of MDCA M A
Thirunagalingam was totally unaware of this happening and he said," I have not received any official letter
from the TNCA".
