Dear Chess Friends,
With deep regret, pain and anguish we inform you that the Kolkata International Open Chess Tournament scheduled to be held between March 20 and 27, 2004 is postponed sine die due to circumstances beyond our control. We apologize to all the players who had confirmed their participation and had looked forward to the tournament. We are returning the entry fee sent by some of the players to avoid any further inconvenience to the players concerned.
We promise, to hold the event in the near future in the same tradition and hospitality with which we had
organized the tournaments of this magnitude in the past. Despite the set back, we shall
endeavor to hold quality tournament which shall give aspiring Indian players an excellent opportunity to get GM or IM norms.
We thank you for the co-operation and support which you have extended to our club and shall get in touch with you as soon as the fresh dates are announced.
