The
World Chess body FIDE has conferred the Grandmaster title on India's Koneru Humpy, ahead of the Second Chess World Cup to be played here
at Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad, in October 2002.
"The presidential board meeting of FIDE, which met on September 8,
2002 at Kremlin, Moscow, found her claim for the title as genuine and conferred the
Grandmaster title on her," FIDE Vice-President Mr P T Ummer Koya, told reporters
at Hyderabad, here today.
The governing body had examined the ratings and category of the tournaments she played to log the required three
Grandmaster Norms to get the men's Grandmaster title and found that they were right and genuine, Koya said.

Anand, Dibyendu Barua, Pravin Thipsay, Abhijit Kunte, Krishnan
