Former
World Champion Viswanathan Anand took time-off after his triumphant
show at Chess Classic Mainz, Germany sharing his rich experience with
the cream of talented Indian players at Chennai. The five day camp
that concluded here today, reads like a who's who in Indian chess
viz., GM Krishnan Sasikiran, GM Abhijit Kunte, GM Elect Koneru Humpy,
IM Surya Sekhar Ganguly, IM R B Ramesh, IM Sandipan Chanda and IM V
Saravanan.
"It
was nice working with them, and I am looking forward to work with
talented Indian players in future too," said Anand. Asked if the
camp worked to a plan, Anand quipped, "We thought of going into
specifics and opening theory, but gradually we went more for in-depth analyzing my
games".
A
quick chat with the seven players who went through the tough grind,
candidly reveals that all of them relished it to the core and benefited
greatly from working together
with the great Indian maestro. India No. 2 Grandmaster Krishnan
Sasikiran, who recently broke into the World top 50 recently, added, "I gained from his ideas in Najdorf, but with more players the analysis was taking more
directions."
Chennai
based IM Saravanan added, "It is a sheer delight working with
Anand, I got to know a lot more by just being with him for two
days".
Pune
based Grandmaster Abhijit Kunte felt, "I wish we have more such
camps with Anand, and we didn't want it end. It was quite gripping
from the beginning to the end".
Talented
Calcutta youngster and double GM Norm holder Surya Sekhar Ganguly
said, "I wish he'd invite us again to work with him. It was quite
interesting and immensely useful, as we got know how to plan our
strategies for opponents and tournaments."
Double
Grandmaster Norm holder Sandipan Chanda, who is scheduled to play for
the top German team Solingen in the forthcoming Bundesleague said,
"I was greatly delighted to work with Anand. Just being with him
you learn so much, and we could never have enough of him". Chanda
is the second Indian player in the prestigious German league this
year, along with Anand.
Anand
now moves ahead to Moscow, for the Russia vs Rest
of the World, where he would be playing the top board for the Rest of
the World team. Following Moscow, Anand is expected to play in the 2nd
