Former National "B" Champion R
Balasubramaniam of ICF, Chennai took the title in a tie break in the
20th Sri S P Gnanam memorial Open Chess tournament,
conducted by Tirupur Chess Association, from 19 04 2001 to 22 04 2001, at Kulalar Kalyana Mandapam, Tirupur.
Joining Balasubramaniam in the top was D Krishna of Coimbatore who
also score 7.5 points.
The nine round
Swiss tournament attracted a total of 112 entries. Mr Muthuswamy presided over the prize distribution function. Mr Chandrasekhar, Area Manager, TTK, was the Chief
Guest, while the prizes were given away by Mr Ramamoorthy, Advocate.
