SPIC Open, Tuticorin

 C. J. Arvind of Loyola College,
Chennai, won the Dr. P. R. Sundaravadivelu Trophy in the SPIC Open FIDE Rated Chess
Tournament, in Tuticorin, recently. He scored seven points and was joined by his city
mates Aarthie Ramaswamy and T. J. Suresh Kumar
in a three-way tie to the top place. His better progressive score enabled him to clinch
the first place and the trophy.A regular in Indian
circuit for quite sometime now the result should give Arvind a big boost of confidence.
With the National "B" Chess Championships round the corner much will be expected
of him
and his preparation should stand him in good stead.
