beats Tilak, Indian Bank clinches team title |
| In a dramatic final round,
holders Indian Bank came from behind to upset the apple cart of topseeds Union Bank. In
the top board, IM G B Prakash outplayed the tournament winner Tilak in a Caro Kann game.
In the second board, IM Sudhakar Babu gave further boost to Indian Bank's title chances
defeating N Neelakantan of Central Bank. Lower down the order, Sahu drew with Hemant
Deshmukh dropping the vital half-a-point. The topseed, Union Bank, thus had to settle for
the Runner-up place. On the individual front, Tilak shared the first place with Babu and
Prakash. But a superior progressive score gave him the title. |
