| Sastri
holds Thipsay, Tilak sole leader In
a Sicilian game lasting 38 moves, N S Srinath Sastri of Syndicate Bank held Grand Master
Pravin Thipsay to a draw. Thipsay's chances of retaining the title he won last year, at
Chennai, look slim. In the top board battle between the two IMs, Sharad Tilak overcame
Sudhakar Babu when the latter overlooked a loss of piece. Tilak leads with five points and
is followed by Sekhar Sahu at 4.5 points. In the team standing, Union Bank enhanced its
lead by moving to 17.5 points. Indian Bank followed with 15 points.
