Salem District Chess Association conducted Under-19 Boys and Girls, District Chess Championship at Oxford Matriculation Hr. Sec. School on 19.8.2000 and 20.8.2000.
The tourney attracted 128 players in the boys event and
20 players in the girls section. Seven rounds were conducted for the boys event and six rounds for girls. Prize distribution function was held at Oxford Matriculation
Hr Sec School and Mrs Srimathi Jagannathan, President, Salem District Chess Association, welcomed
the gathering. Mr M Senthilvel, presented the Tournament report and Mr S Ramanathan gave away the prizes.
