R Vasanth with 4.5 points and R Sushmitha with 4.0 points, both from Krishnaswami MHSS, bagged the boys and girls titles respectively in the Under -15 chess tournament, held at the Jaigopal Garodia Vivekananda Vidhyalaya
HSS, recently.
Vasanth defeated M M Anandraj and Sushmitha won against V J Janani to bag their titles. Former State Sub junior champion S Raghuraman, FIDE rated S Bharath and R Ashwath were tied with 4.0 points and placed second to fourth positions. R Gomathi and Niranjana Bhatathi were tied with 3.5 points and placed second to third positions while V J Janani was placed fourth with 3.0 points.
The prizes were given away by Mr S Muthukrishnan, Principal, Jaigopal Garodia Vivekananda Vidyalaya. The top four players in both section will represent in the Tamil Nadu Sub junior chess tournament for boys and girsl to be held at Thanjavur from 23 07 2001 to 29 07 2001.
