| Parthiban, Roobini clinch Sub-junior titles |
R Parthiban and R Roobini won the Salem District Sub-junior championships for Boys and Girls respectively. In the boys section Parthiban and Vaishak tied for the first place with 7 points each from eight rounds. However Parthiban's better progressive score gave him the title. The championships were organised by the Salem District Chess Association
at St. Paul Hr. Sec. School and was sponsored by Saraswati Ammal. The two day event had ninety one participants in the Boys section and fourteen participants in the girls section. In the prize distribution ceremony held, Father Gabrial, Principal, St. Paul's Hr. Sec. School distributed the prizes to the winners. Srimathi Jagannathan, President SDCA addressed the gathering while M Senthilvel, Secretary, SDCA, proposed the vote of
thanks. |
