Narasimhan, Soorya win titles

Soorya Chettinad Vidyashram won the titles in Under-14 Boys and Girls categories of the Chennai District Rapid Chess Championship for Children for H.S. Kohli Trophies jointly organized by Rotary Club of Madras Metro and Chennai District Chess Association at Indian Red Cross Society.

M.K. Narasimhan drew his sixth and last round game with R. Vasanth Sri Krishnaswamy Matriculation Hr. Sec. School to take his tally to 5.5 points. M. Gowriesh SBOA finished second with 5 points.

In Under - 14 Girls' Section C. Soorya emerged as champion with 100% score of four points in a five player all-play-all event. S. Aneeqha Tahseen Sri Krishnaswamy Matric. School finished second with 3 points.

The Under-12 Boys' section was won by M.M. Anandraj of St. Mary's who won the title with 6.5 points to his credit. In his seventh and last round game, he defeated Syed Moosa of Asan Memorial. The defender of this championship and Top Seeded Bharath Raj Kidambi PSBB could only win the second Prize with 6 points, as he drew with his school mate K. Abishek in his last round game.

The Under-12 Girls' section was won by K. Mrunalini PSBB and N. Raghavi PSBB tied with each other with 4.5 points out of six rounds in a seven player league tournament. On account of better tie-break score, Mrunalini was declared the winner.

The winners and runners-up of all the sections of this Didar Motors sponsored event will represent Chennai District in the T.N. State Rapid Chess Championship for Children to be held later. Rtn. PDG. Raja Ramakrishnan gave away H.S. Kohli Trophies to the winners in the Prize Distribution function held in the evening.
