Paul Arokia Raj retains title

Paul Arokia Raj retained the title in the 12th All India Major Ports Chess Championship organised by Chennai Port Trust at Chennai from 8th to 10th of August 2001. Chennai Port Trust Traffic Executive, International Arbiter, Mr Paul Arokia Raj has won the individual championship for the 10th time, by scoring 5.5 out of possible 6.0.

K Deepak of Mumbai Port Trust was the runner up. Team event was retained by Mumbai Port Trust with 18.5 points. Chennai Port Trust secured second place. International Arbiter Mr V Kameswaran was the tournament Arbiter and the prizes were distributed by Mr P Baskaradas, I A S., Chairman, Chennai Port Trust.
