R Muthukumaran
of KCSN School and H Nilavoli of Presidency HSS won the Boys' and
Girls' titles respectively in the Chennai District Under-18 Chess
Championship. Muthukumaran, who drew his final round game with R Vasanth (Sri Krishnasami MHSS) took his tally to 4.5 points to emerge champion. Vasanth, R Siddharth (CSI Ewart's, Mugappair) and
S Banupriya (Sri Krishnasami) secured four points each to take the second, third and fourth places
in their respective tie-breaks.
In the girls section,
H Nilavoli defeated V J Niranjana Bharathi (BVB) in the final round to secure 4.5 points and earn the top spot. R Niranjini
(PSBBSS) defeated R Sushmita (Sri Krishnasami Matric) to finish second with four points to her credit.
R Muthukumaran, R Vasanth, H Nilavoli and R Niranjini will represent the district in the State under-18 championship.Mr
