| Shantharam wins Lakshmi General Finance Rapid title |
Veteran FIDE Master K V Shantharam of Indian Bank won the fifth Lakshmi
General Finance Open Rapid Chess tournament scoring 7/8 including a final round win over National Under 14 champion M R Venkatesh of Wesley High School, Chennai. There was a three way tie for the second place with Poobesh Anand
(Dolphin Public School, Madurai), A Sankar (Southern Railways) and IM P Konguvel (ONGC) all with 6.5 points and were placed in that order on account of progressive score. Final Placings :
