Norm holder R R Laxman of Annamalai University clinched the title in
style defeating National "A" player B T Muralikrishna of
Southern Railways in the final round at The Indian Red Cross Society
Hall, here today.
Laxman scored a
whopping 8.5 points from nine rounds and took the winner's cheque of
Rs 2500-00, while the Runner-up spot went to Woman International
Master S Meenakshi of Indian Airlines, who logged in 7.5 points.
The third place was
shared by four players viz., S Poobesh Anand (Madurai), C J
Arvind (Loyola College), K Gunasekaran (ICF) and M J Ismail (Chennai)
and were placed in that order on account of their tie break score. Mr
H Venkatesan, Assistant General Manager, M/s Lakshmi General Finance
distributed the prizes.
