Padma Seshadri School clinches the team trophy

L to R : Shravan Kumar Talwar (Captain), M K Narasimhan, B R Kidambi, N Raghavi & K Mrunalini.Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan SSS, K K Nagar "A" team won the title with 24.5 points in the PSBB K K Nagar Silver Jubilee Inter School team chess tournament conducted by Parent Teacher Association and Solar Chess Club of D S K S S I Trust of Mylapore. The winning team was represented by Shravan Kumar Talwar (captain), M K Narasimhan, B R Kidambi, N Raghavi & K Mrunalini.

Sri Krishnaswamy Matriculation HSS, K K Nagar bagged the second place with 23 points while the third place went to Modern SSS, Naganallur with 20.5 points. Fifty teams (twenty five boards marking silver jubilee celebrations ) of different schools from Chennai, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts participated in the tournament. The tournament was inaugurated by Mr V Kameswaran, President, Chennai District Chess Association. As a part of the prize distribution function ,a unique dance based on chess on the giant size chess board-move for peace- was performed by PSBB children.

Mr Y Gee Mahendra distributed the prizes for the first five winning teams and board prizes for the top scorer in each board. Special prizes were awarded to Chettinad Vidyashram, Chennai, Good Earth School, Sriperumbudur and Infant Jesus Matriculation School, Manali New Town.the youngest boy Master Balamurugan of SRDK Vivekananda Vidyalaya and the youngest girl Ch Anjani Rengita of Chettinad were awarded special prizes.
