| Muralikrishnan wins Sterling Rapid
in a tie-break |
| Former National Under 25 Champion B T Muralikrishnan of Railways won
the 'Sterling Chess Academy' Second Rapid Open Chess Tournament at Government Higher Secondary School,
Nandanam, Chennai on 25-06-2000. A Shankar, also of Railways logged 7.0 points but took the second place in a tie break. The 60 player tournmanet attracted the participation of three International Masters viz., G B Prakash (Indian Bank), Lanka Ravi
(ONGC) and T S Ravi (IOC).

G.B. Prakash of Indian Bank was expected as a favourite winner of this tournament but was placed third and the newly elected International Master T S Ravi (IOC) was placed fourth. Mr
Karuppiah, a leading Industrialist of Karaikudi, inaugurated the function and Lion Mr R Mohan, District Chairman Lions Club of
Alwarpet, distributed the prizes to the winners. Mr Tamilselvan, DIG of Police (Crime) presided over the prize distribution function and the tournament was smoothly conducted by the National
Arbiter Mr O S Shankar.
