Third seeded Yatsishin of Ukraine leads the first World cup for Blind
with six points at the end of the seventh round at Bensaque in Spain.
The top seeded Larduct , second seed Tamayo , both Cuba and the fifth seeded Suder,
Poland share the second spot with 5.5 points each.
The Indians in this unique event organised by the International
Blind Sports Association fared reasonably with Madan Bagayatkar
scoring a memorable birthday victory over Bebowska of Poland and
Shirish Patil defeating Sola of Spain respectively.
Madan
moved to four points with a neat win with the Black pieces after he enchased
his material advantage in a King and Pawn ending. Shirsh won in 42
moves in a game arising out of the closed variation of the Sicilian
defence. While Chrudaatta Jadhav lost to Berenguer of Germany,
Vilesh managed to escape with a draw against Martins of Brazil.
