Grandmaster Abhijit Kunte of India finished third in the Australian Open International Chess tourney at Canberra. Yugoslav GM Stefan Djuric finished first with 9.0 points, while Australian GM Ian Rogers took the second spot with 8.5 points. Kunte finished in a tie for the third place with 8.0 points. It was a good finish for Kunte who suffered two losses in the hands of Djuric and Rogers and finished just behind them.
