Rohit and Vinuthna emerge National Sub Junior Champions

N VinuthnaContinuing his fine form Gogineni Rohit picked up his second gold in a fortnight at Hyderabad here today. The National Sub Junior title sums up his second gold after the first one at World Youth Chess at Kuala Lumpur, a short while ago. Nalluri Vinuthna made it a glorious Andhra double winning the Girls title with a measure of comfort.

Rohit is coached by Ch. Kesavananda Krishna, while Vinuthna is coached by P. Jaganmohan. The second place went to the experienced Pune gile Eesha Karavade, while another Pune lad Akshay Raj Kore took the silver in the Boys section.

Top two from the Boys and Girls event will represent the country in the World and Asian events. The top 14 players in boys' and girls' sections here have qualified for the selection tournament to be held later to pick the Indian team for the Youth Chess Olympiad.

For the Hyderabad girl Vinuthna, it was her maiden National title and has come in her backyard. The determined 14-year-old girl should go far with her perseverance and solid playing style. High on the progressive score, Vinuthna drew her final round against Anoori Shah in just nine moves, confirming her title.
