Tournaments 2002 All India Inter University
Chess Championship, Madurai Madras won the Men's and
Women's titles in the All India Inter University chess championship organised by the Madurai Kamaraj University,
Madurai from November 14-19,2002. It was a runaway victory for the IM
Sundararajan Kidambi led Men's team, as Madras finished ahead of
Visweswaraya, Belgaum and Gujarat University. Showing greater
strength in the Women's event, Madras University comprising of
Internationals Y Prathiba, C V Rajalakshmi and J E Kavitha retained
the title with a whopping 27.0 points. Following them in the second
and third place were Mumbai and Visweswaraya with 19.5 and 18.5 points
respectively. P.K.Ponnuswamy, Vice Chancellor, Madurai Kamaraj University
distributed the prizes. Final
