Yogesh Gore of Chattisgarh won the all India tournament organised by the UP Non Olympic Association and UP Chess Association at Muzzaffarnagar, recently. This five-day nine round Swiss event attracted 81 participants including 42 rated players from different parts of India and a lone from Bangladesh.
Besides Rs one lakh prize money, glittering trophies were given to the top three players and a fourth to Yanur Rahman of Bangladesh. First six prizes were not shared but Matsomoto system was applied on top five. This helped eleventh seed Yogesh Gore to win the title.
The Chief guest of the inaugural function was Hukum Singh, the Honourable Minister for Parliamentary affairs and Entertainment Tax. Former Chief Justice of India K N Singh was the
chief guest of the closing ceremony chaired by Dr Kashmir Singh, IPS, DIG and President of UP Non Olympic Association. Hockey Olympian Ashok Kumar was the special invitee.
